Stunning! Though I think it would benefit greatly from the depth of field effect! Your pencil sketch is kinda mimicking that already with details tapering off at the edges.

A lot of the time the way i shade is just purely on feeling, so I don't think I can give much insight on that lol

Tho as far as sketching and lining things, for scenes/more busy art I tend to quickly thumbnail sketch things then flesh it out.
